Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience for our film will be from 15-25, the ages we thought would understand and appreciate our film. I think that any older or younger, would be inappropriate, unless an older age is really into thriller genre. Also, the reason we closed the age gap so tight was because the actors in our film are around the age of this and we think it would relate more to this age group. Although we have thought about a specific audience age, we still encourage all age groups to come and view our film to widen our audience viewing.

Regarding the demographics of our audience, they would be a thriller fanatic who is intrigued by suspense and finding out story endings. I believe they would be well educated about the thriller genre. People aged 60+ don't watch thriller or horror films so they wouldn't apply to our film, however as i said before anyone is welcome to come and watch our film. As my questionare reveals, the genre that reacted the most positively to wanting to watch our product was 15-17 year old males but females weren't far behind which was surprising. 

As I researched,  thriller films mostly attract mature people who can understand serious matters and situation as well as being entertained by it and also people who won't get influenced by it because thriller can involve dangerous objects in it.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? What I have learnt from my preliminary through to the process of making "Watched" is how to achieve different perspectives of emotions and reactions through camera angles and shots. This helped to really draw in the audience and help them to engage and interact the viewers. From my research, I have learnt that thriller genre target audiences like to feel the emotions of the characters within the production whereas in my preliminary task, I don't think we achieved this response successfully. How did you attract/address your audience? The way we attracted out target audience was to create a narrative that appealed to both audiences. By this we aimed to provide a view from both genders but also created out product by giving the audience a chance to decide who they want to 'defend' or encourage throughout. As well as this we also tried to follow the common conventions of thriller genre to keep our audience drawn in but also tried to break the boundaries and make our product more unique by making the protagonist seem braver and smarter than the stereotypical female protagonist.  As from the research, we also wanted to make our product so that the audience can be in the situation of the victim or antagonist to make them feel part of the film. To achieve this, we used camera angles such as close ups to reveal the true feelings and emotions of the character so that the audience could feel these emotions to. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?  We chose 20th century fox films to distribute our film because they aim to push boundaries of film making and technology advances. They also specialise in low budget british independent films and have distributed thrillers, e.g. One hour photo which is about a lonely technician who develops and unsettling obsession with the Yorkin family who are long time costumers. This film was published in 2002. This was a relevant film to help me decide that fox films was suitable because this is a thriller film, but like    ours, it doesn't include gore and darkness much.  Taking the future into consideration, 20th century fox aims to embrace new technologies and that take their audience deeper into the film which we would want to achieve.  As our film is small and independent we didn't want to chose a institution like Columbia films because it would be challenging to get the dist...
